We even have state-of-the art research labs, including a facility for classified research, available for lease to business and government partners.

Although we are a relatively young research program, our growth and productivity rivals those a lot older. UNC Charlotte topped $51 million in new research grants awarded in 2019, an 80% jump in just a few years. Charlotte Agenda referred to UNC Charlotte’s research efforts as “punching above its weight” and noted that on a per-dollar basis, UNC Charlotte ranks No. 2 nationally for new patents filed and No. 5 for start-ups created. With its exceptional research talent and state-of-the-art research and science facilities, UNC Charlotte’s research enterprise is a rising star.
